THE WORLD TANDEM CHALLENGE
To raise money for our respective charities Spinal Research and the Brain Foundation. We will be fully funding the entire challenge ourselves and all money donated will go to charity.
To set a Guinness World Record for fastest circumnavigation of the globe by Tandem bicycle. We will begin in Adelaide, Australia in August 2018 and pass through a further 24 countries in the hope of setting a new Guinness world record.
Our attempt has been accepted by Guinness world records and in order to succeed we have to fulfil the following criteria:
Total distance travelled (including flights) must be at least the distance of the earth’s equator = 24,900 Miles (40,075km)
travel a minimum distance of 18,000 miles (28,970km) by bicycle
Travel through two antipodal points, which we have chosen as Madrid and Wellington.
Start and finish at the same point.
Our cycle will take us through 24 countries, 12 capital cities, 4 continents, 4 seasons, many cultures and languages. We will be sleeping in our tent the vast majority of the journey and be fully self-supported. The journey is also completely self-funded and all money donated will go straight to charity. We expect the challenge to be physically and mentally challenging. Despite this we are eager to get started!
